Serpeint of Malice – Schlange des Bösen

My new novel “Serpent of Malice” is now available in English after haveing been published in German as “Schlange des Bösen”. The German version has come out in two volumes, Vol. 1 ‘Die Studentin’ (The Student) and Vol. 2 ‘Chimären’ (Chimeras)“Serpent of Malice” fits into a single volume. German text is generally longer than English text. Many long books have therefore been divided in two halves by German publishers. Dividing the English book into two parts to follow the German publication would have resulted in two very thin books.

The two  German volumes have been published and can be purchased from Torsten Low Pulishing, or ordered from bookshops, or bought at any online portal.

I have already done several readings and attended various conventions and festivals, with a book table.

Whether you sell a lot or disappointingly few books at such events can depend on a wide variety of factors: the location of the book table plays a role, as does the sales talent of neighbouring authors (usually better than mine), it might have a topic that everyone is interested in at the moment – or no one is, and even the weather can play a part: open air festivals in the  pouring rain are not helpful where book sales are concerned.

Then again, the cleavage of the neighbouring author may attract far more attention than any books. It’s all happened before. In the latter case, I always like to imagine the looks on the faces of seasoned middle-aged male Science Fiction fans when they unpacked their book haul in the evening after the event and realise that this time they came home with extra-spicy romantic fantasy bodice rippers instead of space ships.

But I’m not being nice. Unfortunately, I have no talent for marketing, and it’s rather too late to show cleavage. Basically, I’m hoping for a miracle. For example, if some important reader really loved my book and praised it widely on all social media, I would find that truly wonderful. But most of the time, not even my own friends share my social media news. Of course, you occasionally get an offer from an influencer who – for a fee – would recommend your book alongside lipsticks and slimming powders. But I don’t want to inflict that on my book – or my wallet.

So I will have to hope that my books are liked because they have thrilling stories and are intelligently written.
